WEEKLY HOURS: 40 Hours

Purpose of Position:

To learn how to process specimens according to set criteria and standards on all benches in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory.

Requirements:

• B.Sc Honours degree
• HPCSA registration as Learner Medical Scientist
• Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act
• Technical knowledge as per HPCSA regulations
• Computer skills: Use computer technology effectively.
• Communication skills: Read, write and speak fluently in English and Afrikaans.
• Numerical reasoning skills: Perform basic numerical calculations (e.g. additions, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).

Advantageous:

• Experience in a Molecular laboratory
• Knowledge of the Meditech system

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and process specimens in order to ensure efficient delivery of results.
• Assist with the developing and evaluating of Assays.
• Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld.
• Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath.
