Purpose of Position:
To learn how to process specimens according to set
criteria and standards on all benches in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory.
Requirements:
- B.Sc Honours degree
- HPCSA registration as Learner Medical Scientist
- Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act
- Technical knowledge as per HPCSA regulations
- Computer skills: Use computer technology effectively.
- Communication skills: Read, write and speak fluently in English and Afrikaans.
- Numerical reasoning skills: Perform basic numerical calculations (e.g. additions, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).
Advantageous:
- Experience in a Molecular laboratory
- Knowledge of the Meditech system
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process specimens in order to ensure efficient delivery of results.
- Assist with the developing and evaluating of Assays.
- Perform accreditation and Quality Control related tasks to ensure standards are upheld.
- Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath.
